President's Message
Greetings,
It is my honor and privilege to serve as the President of Texas Indo-American Physicians Society, Southwest Chapter for the year 2021-2022.
The past two years of the pandemic did challenge our resolve but strengthened our goal to participate more in the care of our communities. Since its inception 33 years back, TIPSSW has and always will remain a platform to renew our commitment to professional excellence, serve as physician champions to our patients and communities, and promote networking opportunities while celebrating our common roots and culture. TIPSSW will also always be a voice for physicians of Indian origin, but to be equipped to do that, TIPSSW has to be a viable organization today and in the future.
My passion is to ‘Heal the Healers’. We as physicians are devoted to the care of our patients, but in doing so, day after day in a never-ending pandemic, many of us end up hurting ourselves as we carry all their emotional burdens. TIPSSW aims to partner with wellness initiatives rooted in the Indian Culture like yoga, that help heal us so that we can better heal our patients.
There is however nothing more heart-warming than watching our young TIPS JVP volunteers as they fulfill their commitment to help, learn and lead. Kudos to them and their parent mentors. TIPSSW reiterates our moral and financial commitment to TIPS JVP as they consider expanding their initiatives to the Indian community and beyond.
We have and will continue to co-sponsor the Annual Free Health Fair with the Indian Association of San Antonio. We renew our commitment to the charitable organizations in San Antonio who have done a yeoman’s service to the San Antonio community.
2022 is indeed a unique year as the AAPI National Convention is coming back to San Antonio after 8 years, while we also celebrate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. TIPSSW as a host chapter of the 40th Annual National Convention of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, is proud to co-host the AAPI national conference from June 23-26, 2022 in San Antonio (https://aapiconvention.org). TIPSSW will also be hosting the ‘Heal the Healers’ TIPSSW Charity Gala on June 23rd, 2022, where we will be pledging our support to other charitable organizations in San Antonio. We sincerely invite you for the TIPSSW Annual Gala and the AAPI national conference where we aim to rekindle, rejoice, reunite and rejuvenate.
In ending, I will say, there is a lot we can do for our Indian physician community, and I invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Our organization derives strength and is vitalized by its members. Let’s work together to make San Antonio and TIPSSW a healthier community.
