Dr. Yogita Sharma-Segon is an accomplished academic hospitalist, educator, researcher, and physician leader currently serving as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Division of Hospital Medicine, University of Texas Health San Antonioand the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center. She is also actively involved in perioperative medicine education, quality improvement, and faculty development at both regional and national levels. Originally trained at Kasturba Medical College, Dr. Sharma-Segon completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin and later earned a Master’s degree in Medical Education from the University of Cincinnati. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Over the course of her career, Dr. Sharma-Segon has built a strong reputation as a passionate clinician educator. She has directed multiple medical student and resident electives, developed faculty development curricula, and mentored numerous trainees in scholarly and quality improvement projects. Her educational contributions have been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the Edward J. Lennon Endowed Clinical Teaching Award and multiple Outstanding Medical Student Teaching Awards. Dr. Sharma-Segon’s scholarly work spans hospital medicine, perioperative medicine, medical education, quality improvement, and clinical documentation integrity. She has presented extensively at national conferences including the Society of Hospital Medicine, Society of General Internal Medicine, and Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations to her credit. Her current research interests include the use of artificial intelligence in medical education. Beyond academics and clinical medicine, Dr. Sharma-Segon is deeply committed to community engagement and service. She actively volunteers in educational and cultural initiatives in San Antonio and currently serves as Secretary of the Texas Indo-American Physician Society Southwest Chapter (TIPS SW), supporting its mission of physician networking, charitable outreach, and strengthening the Indo-American medical community through collaboration and service.
