About Junior Volunteer Program
TIPS JVP is a structured volunteer program for the children of TIPS-SW members, acting as a liaison between local community organizations and our junior volunteers. An experienced volunteer team lines up service activities and signs the documentation students need to accumulate their required volunteer hours, including hours toward the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Middle- and high-school members take on leadership roles, mentor younger volunteers, and earn recommendation letters for their college applications, while a student-written newsletter keeps everyone up to date on new opportunities and upcoming activities. Along the way, volunteers experience many parts of San Antonio while giving back to the community. Open to students ages 8–18 whose parents are TIPS-SW members. To get involved, email the JVP Core Committee at [email protected].

Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The service hours JVP students log are documented and counted toward the PVSA — a national recognition of volunteer commitment, signed by an authorized certifying organization. It’s a meaningful addition to school and college applications, and a recognition of the real impact our junior volunteers make in San Antonio.
