TIPS-SW Community Health Programs in Texas

Four physician-led community programs — bringing healthcare beyond the hospital and into the neighborhoods, schools, and parks of Texas. Funded in part by TIPS-SW philanthropy donors and run by physician members.

All community health programs are developed and overseen by board-certified physician members of TIPS-SW, a 501(c)(3) medical association affiliated with AAPI.

JVP

Junior Volunteer Program

TIPS JVP is a structured volunteer program for the children of TIPS-SW members, acting as a liaison between local community organizations and our junior volunteers. An experienced volunteer team lines up service activities and signs the documentation students need to accumulate their required volunteer hours, including hours toward the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Middle- and high-school members take on leadership roles, mentor younger volunteers, and earn recommendation letters for their college applications, while a student-written newsletter keeps everyone up to date on new opportunities and upcoming activities. Along the way, volunteers experience many parts of San Antonio while giving back to the community. Open to students ages 8–18 whose parents are TIPS-SW members.
